Download the Synth Workshop macOS app. Local models, ChatGPT login, direct provider APIs, and Synth API are all first-class paths into the same research loop.

Direct provider keys are billed by their providers and do not use your Synth allowance. Workshop labels Synth-backed cloud work separately and asks before starting paid compute.

Synth Workshop requires an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later with at least 16 GB of unified memory. Open this page on your Mac when you are ready to download.

Choose the maturity level you intend to test

Stable is recommended. Beta, alpha, and dev install beside it with separate bundle identities. Every v0.9.1 envelope is currently ad-hoc signed and requires the same disclosed macOS first-launch approval.

Open Workshop, then choose how you want to work

  2. 2. Choose accessContinue locally without an account, or connect Synth for account-backed cloud models.

A research referral does not install or launch that workflow automatically. Keep its starter prompt, then paste it into Workshop after the app is ready.

Build from source

One command after cloning

The build checks your toolchain, installs missing JavaScript dependencies, builds the macOS app, and emits an unnotarized ZIP, checksum, and manifest under dist/. No Synth credentials are required to compile it.

Requirements

  • macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon (M-series)
  • 16 GB unified memory minimum; 32 GB recommended for local models
  • Optional internet connection for ChatGPT login, direct provider APIs, Synth API, billing, and update checks
  • Enough local storage for any on-device model you choose to download

Release notes

New

  • Stable, beta, alpha, and dev channel apps are published from one clean v0.9.3 source revision.
  • Research and evaluation pages provide optional Workshop starter prompts while NanoHorizon remains canonical at /challenges/nanohorizon.

Improved

  • Workshop refreshes the connected account authoritatively on launch and reloads approved configured provider sources without restarting.
  • Recipe discovery keeps the active session reference and NanoHorizon result retrieval records first-success telemetry from the native host.

Fixed

  • Stable builds report the compiled stable release channel instead of being mislabeled as dev.
  • Stopped Containers instances are removed and relaunched instead of being mistaken for healthy running instances.

Privacy

  • Local model use runs on your Mac. When you choose a cloud model or hosted account feature, the necessary request is sent to that selected service.
  • Provider credentials remain in the native app's private storage rather than being handled by this download page.

Known limits

  • This v0.9.3 package is ad-hoc signed and not Apple-notarized. macOS may require Control-click → Open or System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway on first launch.
  • Direct provider credentials are billed by that provider and do not debit the Synth Starter allowance; only explicitly approved Synth-backed work draws from it.
  • The prebuilt release requires macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon; Intel Macs, Windows, and Linux are not supported.

Support

Include Synth Workshop version 0.9.3, your macOS version, and what happened. Please do not delete the app data directory before support has reviewed it.
